What is a Contracted Nose?
A contracted nose refers to a condition where, after an implant is placed, the surrounding capsule thickens or the tissue contracts, causing the nose to shorten, the tip to turn up, or the nose to feel hard.
Contracture can result from a combination of several causes — repeated inflammation, excessive dissection, and individual tissue reactions. Simply reinserting an implant alone can leave a burden of recurrence, so VVLY first considers removing the cause and letting the tissue recover.
Because contracted-nose revision is a high-difficulty procedure, VVLY carefully analyzes the nasal structure and prior surgical history together, taking a careful approach centered on the patient's own tissue. Results may vary by individual.
